About The Farmer

Sara Colburn

Born and raised in Ohio, my story is one that weaves the threads of a lifelong dream, patience, and the unwavering pursuit of a passion close to my heart. I'm Sara, and my journey to Notalotta Acres has been a testament to the transformative power of determination.

From an early age, I felt a connection to the land and its creatures. One of my first experiences with farming came through working at an Alpaca farm and Bed & Breakfast. The enchanting world of these gentle creatures captured my imagination, and I was eager to learn all I could about them. In those early days of dial-up internet, I immersed myself in research, becoming the farm's unofficial spokeswoman. I eagerly shared my newfound knowledge at events, county fairs, and with anyone who would listen. It was my first taste of advocacy for the farming life, and it left a lasting impression.

I nurtured a dream, one that was fueled by a desire to start my own farm investment. I had even developed a business plan, ready to pitch the idea to my mother, only to have it met with hesitation and doubt. The dream was set aside, but it never truly faded. Instead, it simmered in the background as I embarked on a different path.

Over the course of more than two decades, I adapted to the ebb and flow of life in the 'real world.' Living in suburban landscapes, I learned to navigate the complexities of adulthood, all the while harboring the dream of one day returning to the soil that had always called to me. The world turned, and the dream remained, patient and unwavering.

Today, the journey continues. In addition to managing Notalotta Acres, I maintain a full-time job, adding another layer to the intricate balance of my life. Yet, my passion for farming and regenerative agriculture fuels my every step.

Beyond my farm and career, I share my life with three incredible dogs. Together, we're actively involved in training for agility and herding. My Australian Shepherd, an expert herder, partners with me as we navigate the challenges and rewards of this ancient and captivating practice. These three loyal companions infuse my life with energy, joy, and an appreciation for the boundless wonders of the natural world.

With every sunrise and every step forward, Notalotta Acres takes shape, rooted in my unwavering passion for regenerative agriculture. It's a dream nurtured by years of patience, and a commitment to learning, growing, and giving back to the land and the community. With each passing day, I am grateful for the opportunity to sow the seeds of a brighter, more sustainable tomorrow, right here on this patch of Ohio soil that I call home.
